Hitting the top spot with their first three singles, Gerry & The Pacemakers were a true Mersey Beat phenomena. Their Box Set You'll Never Walk Alone (1963-1966) is released on 11 February.
Headed by the inimitable Gerry Marsden, Gerry & The Pacemakers rivaled the Beatles in the heady days of that scene, and had a huge following at home and abroad when Liverpool was the toast of popular music.
Their four CD You'll Never Walk Alone box set is released on 11 February and is the definitive collection of the band at its peak. It contains recordings from January 1963 until November 1966 and the hit singles such as How Do You Do It?, I Like It, You'll Never Walk Alone, I'm the One and of course Ferry Cross The Mersey.
It also includes unreleased tracks, early and no strings versions, all their UK singles, EPs and LP masters with some recordings issued only in the USA ! and Canada. Plus the full Oakland Auditorium show, in stereo, which provided the four tracks for the Gerry In California (mono) EP.
The package includes liner notes written by Spenser Leigh, a detailed session list and a number of previously unseen photos.
The new Gerry & The Pacemakers Box Set is released around the bands 60 date UK tour which runs from 20th February till 4th May.
